Mary & Michael Pilgrimage

Great to connect with the Mary and Michael lines again…..

From Taunton to Glastonbury
I took off my glasses and switched off the phone.
Walking with a small group of people through varied landscapes and settlements.
Taunton ~ Trull ~ Corfe ~ Ruishton ~ Creech St Michael ~ Noth Curry.
Nearly 50 miles in 6 days.
I took off my glasses and switched off the phone.
Walking through fields of maize, past cows, sheep and horses
and even a mini festival.
Athelney ~ Burrowbridge ~ Middlezoy ~ Westonzoyland ~ Sutton Mallet.
Trusting the leader who had been here before with the maps and the time piece.
I took off my glasses and switched off the phone.
Becoming more in tune with the rhythms of the day and noticing more
and more of the inner and outer landscapes.
Buzzards and herons, hedges and bridges.
Feeling the feelings and keep walking….
Moorlinch ~ Shapwick ~ Wearyal Hill.
I took off my glasses and switched off the phone.
Pausing for rest and reflection in the cool quiet churches.
Walking and camping and enjoying the companionship of kind friendly folk.
Resting by the fire with a belly full of good food.
Trusting the leader who had been here before….
I took off my glasses and switched off the phone.
Following the Mary & Michael Pilgrims Way,
mostly walking in silence but not in solitude.
Arriving in Glastonbury on foot was a very special occasion.
As was being part of the most spectacular sun rise on Michaelmas morn.
Thank you so much to Richard for leading this kind and
deeply nourishing journey.
Thank you to Francis the van driver, cook and hearth holder.
And thank you all fellow travellers ~ thank you for all we shared along the way.
And thank you to Matthew for the photo’s.
With love and thanks Frances
